More Layoffs, Closings and Foreclosures
Well it seems like pain keeps getting worse!
As of today 1/26/09 Sprint / Nextel will be laying off upto 5,000 workers.
My opinion MIS-MANAGEMENT! This is an industry that I've seen grown and I've benefited greatly from as a businessman through advertising.
I had a stretch run over a few years where I made more than $200,000 just placing ads for Sprint through their co-op advertising programs.
From talking to executives and sales reps with the company I figured out that the only real expenses they had were customer service, maintenance of their towers and marketing.
They don't have to keep purchasing land line space to make more money. They basically just need to keep up their towers.
I don't know it just seems suspecious to me that they would lay off workers now when they are making money hand over fist for a service that doesn't cost them anymore money when they add a new phone line. The cost of the towers are the same if they only had 1 customer or 1,000,000 customers.
DHL GOING OUT OF BUSINESS in the United States. This is a very sad situation. I learned of the DHL problem from an associate that use to have all of his packages delivered by DHL.
I couldn't help but to feel for those workers that they showed on 60 Minutes last night. What can I say? Those workers are going to have to rebuild their lives.
LANDLORD ALERT!
If you are renting you need to be aware that your home my be in jeporady? I was just notified by one of my employees that his landlord wasn't paying the mortgage on the house he was renting.
He received a foreclosure notice from the bank. But a little bit of relief was also in the letter. They told him that they didn't want him to move. They wanted him to continue paying the rent to them.
WTF!!!!! Banks are getting into the landlord business!!!! This is not legal and I want an investigation immediately. Why? Because they might stop selling me properties for $2,000! Damn!!!!!
Really these are strange times and banks are going to have to work with people if they want to get paid.
